A really engrossing and fascinating look into the life of a woman from a different culture. Believe it or not, I found this book to be a "page turner". I highly recommend it.

Nisa, a member of the Kung Tribe of hunters-and-gatherers from Southern Africa's Kalahari desert, now in her fifties, would be considered a remarkable woman in any culture: as a small child she saved her newborn brother from infanticide; first married at the age of twelve to a man she did not want, she was separated, divorced, remarried, widowed; she bore four children, none of whom survived; dependent on no one, she foraged for food in one of the world's most hostile environments. Ever wanted to experience the life of a hunter/gatherer woman? This splendid book about !Kung life will show it to you from the inside out. Anthropologist Marjorie Shostak lived among the !Kung people and recounts their live, particularly that of Nisa. There are pictures, but the wonder is in the telling of her story. There is much to learn here. I loved this book.
A great story. Very funny.
Read it in college and thought it was interesting.
