This was a well-written, although kind of disjointed, novel about an Irish Catholic Brooklyn in the early 1920's. Jim commits suicide, leaving behind his pregnant wife, Anne. The nuns take care of Anne during her pregnancy and after the birth of Sally.

Sally, growing up with the Sisters, has an inkling to become a Sister. Things change at this point.

This novel was excellently prosed, although there were times when I couldn't really figure out who the author was referring to. Intelligent writing.
