Urban fantasy/paranormal anthology. 3 novellas by 3 wonderful authors. Charlaine Harris sets hers in Sookie's world, though Sookie does not make an appearance. Barbara Hambly and Maggie Shayne turn out stories of heroine-mixed-up-in-otherworld-stuff and romance with they guy they hook up with to deal with it. And ripping good tales they are, too.
These are not new stories! This is a reissue of the same book from 2004!

Oh yawn! boring stories, forgettable characters. A waste of a trade. I got the book for Charlaine Harris but even her story was a BORE.

The Maggie Shayne short was good. I was intrigued from the begining and the tension between the characters made the love story fun. Loved the sexual tension in this one. I read 4 pages of the Babara Hambly short and lost intrest, -over written. I passed over this and went right to the Charlaine Harris like another reviwer here. The Layla short was good and a definate page turner set in the world of Sookie. Very quick reads.

Paranormal romance anthologies are a lot like McDonalds hamburgers. You start off liking them and as you eat more and more over the years, you begin to grow bored because the cheap, unimaginative ingredients start to always have the same, repetitive taste. Sooner or later you grow sick of them completely and when you find yourself forced to eat one in a pinch, you remember why you started disliking them in the first place. I think I have reached that point with paranormal romance anthologies.
I love Maggie Shayne and Charlaine Harris (I am new to Barbara Hambly) but these short stories were just "blah". Easy to read but just LACKING. I think I am just tired of "fast food" versions of my favorite authors and prefer to just ingest their full lengths novels.

Two ghost stories and one story with vampires. A quick, fun read.
This is an exceptional book if you enjoy paranormal romance. Charlaine Harris's and Barbara Hambly's installments are especially strong. The only reason I am giving away this copy is I found an autographed version. I'm happy to share this one with someone else who will enjoy it.
I especially enjoyed the mystery by Charlaine Harris. Engaging characters with a paranormal twist.

Frankly, I love everything Charlaine Harris and Maggie Shayne have written. The Barbara Hambly was a nice addition, but I love this book for the Charlaine Harris vampire story!

I love Charlaine Harris although I didn't overly enjoy her story. I realized though that the characters made a brief appearance in one of her books. The name escapes me but it's the one set in Rhodes at the vampire conference.
I passed over Barbara Hambly's contribution, but I really enjoyed Maggie Shayne's. I'm not normally a fan of her stuff but this one I liked. I may check her out again!

This was a collection of three novellas. Each novella has a heavy paranormal theme to it along with some romance. All the stories also feature women who have a history of abuse by men and the stories are somewhat about them overcoming that past.
My favorite of the bunch was âDancers in the Darkâ by Harris. This story actually made me a bit sad because it reminded me what a great writer Harris was before she stopped editing her books (around the True Blood TV series time).
Overall, all of the novellas are decent and I would recommend if you are a paranormal romance fan. I have brief review of each novella below.

The woman who moves in there debunks psychics for a living and needs to request the help of her great enemy, a psychic named Jack, to get the evil ghost out of her house. The story was good and creepy; I didn't think the chemistry between the two characters was all that great though.
