This series drives me crazy because the main character drives me crazy. He says and does dumb stuff and it's not just in everyday life stuff - it's important life-changing type of stuff - but he does it for good hearted reasons. He's inherited his birth father's home and has learned he was a satanist. Now he lives in that big cavernous home and after being kicked off the police force works as a private eye. The dark side wants his soul. He wants to redeem the life of a little girl who jumped to her death when he was on the police force in charge of rescuing her. She appears to him sometimes, wanting to be rescued. Then he learns that his secretary's uncle has stolen the library that was left - worth millions just as he had it reviewed and was about to get an offer. Turns out this uncle is a satanist and a very bad guy and they lock horns. There is quite a twist at the end, but things work out. I'll go on to the next one.
