I just couldn't get into this book or this author. I'm hoping that someone here can!

Written by Anne Rice's sister. Set in ancient historical times (Julius Caesar), this book pulls you into the tragedy of the times, and the story of a shapeshifter. Great representation of man as man, man as wolf, and the struggle for balance between the two. Selected by the Literary Guild, Doubleday Book Club and the Science Fiction Book Club. I got into this book a lot more than I thought I would, since I don't care for the time period. If you read this, also read The Silver Wolf.

I loved all the books in this series. Guess it's the whole shape-shifting thing that mesmerizes me. This book was an interesting insight into Maniel's early life, how he first became man and how he learned the ways of men. Loved his character and found the entire political scene w/Caesar fascinating. The Dryas character (an Amazon) is particularly neat. Highly recommend this book.
Written by Anne Rice's sister...great!

Good read with a great ending
I couldn't finish it. I just didn't get into it and it went to slow and lost my interest.
This by Anne Rice's sister...it was great!
In my opinion, Alice Brochardt is a better writer than her sister, Anne Rice. See if you agree.

Have to admit, I don't like her writing as much as her sisters (Anne Rice) and I found it a slow but steady read...
Liked it at first but then it just got kind of stupid.

Night of the Wolf
The fearsome legions of Julius Caesar have crushed resistance to Roman rule. Watching the tragic aftermath through yellow eyes afire with curiosity and intelligence is Maeniel, a gray wolf . . . and a shapeshifter unaware of his preternatural duality. But a new Maeniel is about to be born from the ruins.
The sight of the beautiful Imona fills Maeniel with unfamiliar feelings and desires, triggering his transformation from wolf to man. In her arms he learns what it means to love. It is a knowledge that will change him forever. When Imona vanishes, Maeniel follows her trail--unaware that he is being pursued by a warrior-woman sworn to kill him. But the hunt upon which the two adversaries embark will lead them farther than they can imagine: to the gates of Rome itself--to the gates of their very souls . . .
