Lovely story of an independent woman--a shipbuilder able to captain a Baltimore clipper--and the Englishman who would keep her in her place. Of course, defining "place" is a difficult task!

For those Catherine Coulter fans - please note that this is a romance, not one of her newer thriller type books... It's also the third in a trilogy.

From the back cover...

You first met Alec Carrick, Baron Sherard, in Night Fire. He returns full fore in Night Storm-and believe me, this man's got force in spades.

He decides he wants to merge with a shipyard in Baltimore, Maryland, and knows he won't have a problem bringing the owner around to his way of thinking. Unfortunately, this is where the owner's daughter, Genny Paxton, comes in and presents herself to Baron Sherard as "Eugene" Paxton. Ale, a man of great insight, knows exactly what lies beneath those britches. He gets Genny's goat more times than she can count.

This is a story filled with wit, humor, and outrageous circumstances. There are lots of twists and more spins than a roulette wheel. But that's not the end of it-there's five-year-old Hallie, Alec's daughter, a charmer who will take hold of your heart and never let go.

This is the last book in the Night trilogy. The Paxtons are shipbuilders in Baltimore. Alec Carrick is an English nobleman who wants to buy them out. Genny Paxton isn't at all what she seems. She dresses like a man and wants to build her own sailing ships without male interference. This is a love story filled with wit, humor, and outrageous circumstances.

Fiery, free-spirited Eugenia Paxton swore she'd make a pact with the devil himself if it meant saving her father's shipyard from destitution. But a partnership with the wealthy British sea captain Alec Carrick seemed a much more perilous bargain. For once on the tempestuous waters, the aristocratic rogue inflamed her with desires she had never before known, ecstasis she had only imagined. And surrendering to his searing caress could cost Eugenia her most cherished possession: her independence...and her fragile, yearning heart.

This book is the conclusion to Catherine Coulter's Night trilogy: Night Fire, Night Shadow.

A best selling Coulter novel......An English nobelman planning to buy the Paxton ship building enterprise...brings his 5 yr old daughter along for the ride, while he seduces the Paxton daughter, who is a very capable ship builder.

The sex was good, but I just didn't like anything else about it.
--------

In this final installment of the Night trilogy, Coulter once again shows her knack for creating dynamic, likable lovers and engineering outrageous erotic situations. At the heart of a romance between an English lord and the daughter of a shipyard owner in 19th-century Baltimore is a psychodrama in which a young, androgynous woman with conventionally male responsibilities confronts her feminine identity. Coulter's conceit is that an independent woman will surrender to an attractive, domineering male so long as he arouses her passion with eroticism and not brutishness. The result is a lengthy paean to the pleasures of voyeurism, light bondage, cross-dressing and other variant sexual practices--performed, that is, with Mr. Right. Coulter will titillate like-minded readers.
