The first Holt novel I ever read. Brought me back to read all the rest of them as they came out. Even searched out earlier works (though there weren't many before this!) If you like romance and intrigue, she's tops in the genre.

Heavy romance books that I enjoyed many years ago while in High School.
I read this book while I was in high school and it was so magical for me. It's been 25 years since I read it and I am considering reading it again. But then, I'm a little hesitant to do that. Fabulous things from my childhood are rarely quite as fabulous when I revisit them as an adult. I wouldn't want to spoil it.
holt was very popular a vew years ago. i read most everything that came out by her. i remember this being one of my favorites. i went back a few years ago and reread it - and that is not always good - sometimes you are shocked at having ever liked a book when you reread it. but this one held up. it was still a good read. light romance with a bit of mystery.
This is a novel of adventure, suspense and romance. It was published in 1972. The character finds herself in a historic castle; where she could find a lifetime of happiness- or an untimely death. Very good book. I am just getting rid of my Victoria Holt mysteries at this time.
The book that I have is a hardback. And was bought from the library. In good condition though.
I WAS NOT REAL HAPPY WITH THIS ONE. TOO DRY.
