Within the genre of paranormal romance, I believe Viehl is one of the very few outstanding writers. Viehl refreshingly presumes an intelligent reader and The Darkyn series is absolutely entrancing, beautifully written with compelling, complex characters. It's especially rewarding to see Alexandra & Michael's story (If Angels Burn, book 1) weave in and out the series. Religous zealotry and persecution, truly scary evil acts evoking Poe and others, the Knights Templar, intoxicating vampire men and strong females all make for a superb must-read series. This book and this series sends me into thrall.

I absolutely fell in love with Lynn Viehl when I read the first 50 pages of "If Angels Burn". This is the fourth in her Darkyn series and it continues the saga of the Darkyn "people". Her books greatly depend on you having read them in sequence in order to understand everything that is going on but it is so worth it. The same characters keep popping up and evolving as new loves are embraced and Viehl feeds you new info on the Darkyn kin. If possible have all of the series(that has been released) on hand when you start because if not you will suffer withdrawal when you realize that you have to wait months for the new book to be released.

Interesting storyline but I was a little lost at the beginning when I started to read it. I didnt know it was book four of a series. I would recommend that you definitely read the books before it before you start this one.
