John Sanford takes a sabbatical from his widely popular "Prey" series in this book. The writing style in "The Night Crew" is substantially different that his style in the "Prey" books. Two prominent differences are obvious, one is the locatation , Los Angeles as compared to Minneapolis-St. Paul, which has become the center of the "Prey" series and Lucas Davenport. Secondly, in this book, the lead character is a "female". The lead in this book is Anna Batory, a videographer, who is being stalked by an unknown psycho, slowly eliminating everyone she comes in contact with. Another big difference I discovered is that this book is more of a mystery, and somewhat less of a thriller. Nonetheless, the action and suspence hardly let up throughout the book, and lead to a stunning ending. Although not up to the standards of the Lucas Davenport "Prey" series of books, this one is still a taut adventure tale, full of slick villains. Enjoy! Wiley Coyote
