Gets off to a slow start but picks up in the middle. This is an explicit romance tale that at times describes some unconventional sex practices. Skip the story if you don't enjoy reading such things, but I didn't mind the level of detail. However, this is not very romantic or passionate. The hero isn't very likable. He cheats on the heroine. I didn't read the rest of the books in the series because this book turned me off from the Lords of the Satyr series.

Erotic historical romance with paranormal elements (not vampire). Good writing and historical detail. The villain is female, which is a nice change, and she and her friends are quite creepy. Very hot book and better than most in the genre. Mostly M/F (hero and heroine), but there is some menage (heroine and the 3 bros/and one other scene) and F/F (the villainess) as well. On my keeper shelf.

Well written erotica...and I was beginning to think the two were mutually exclusive! For those who enjoy this genre, this is a MUST READ. It is a well written story; the author is obviously a very talented writer (I read that Elizabeth Amber is a pseudonym for a best-selling author). The sex is essential to the story arc (as is the rule with this genre), and the characters are well developed. The details and history provide by the author are fabulous, Ms. Amber did her homework. In a story with sex interwoven into the plot, Ms. Amber still managed to provide the physical aspects refreshing twists. A very enjoyable read.

First book in the unusual Lords of Satyr erotic romance series about the oldest brother who goes on a bride-hunt from Tuscany to Rome. One of the best written erotic romances I've read. Historic, early part of the 1800s. An unusual interesting premise about a blight that attacks the vineyards of Italy and these Satyr guys help fight it. Mostly about the main hero/heroine but includes some menage and f/f sex as well.

I love explicit, crazy sex scenes HOWEVER I have two rules:
1) Men have ONE cock; thou shalt not invent two and an extra wtf appendage unless you want to really do a biology/anatomy info dump. IF you want double penetration in a scene make it a devil's threeway.
2.) If you use medical terms in your sex scene this porn reading nurse will switch from "that's hawt" to "Am I studying my proctology text?"
Way too mechanical and the author needs a better thesaurus. Some scenes sounded just...ugh...like nasty! Four letter words are great but don't you dare use 'vagina' in a sentence and expect it to sound sexy. Unimpressed (but I still read it...but would not have done so sober!)

Did I read the same book as everybody here? Because I thought Nicholas by Elizabeth Amber was just AWFUL. *spoiler* I hate cheaters and this "hero" cheats on heroin, after they get married, so many times that it pissed me off so much, especially since he not remorse at all after heroin confronts him about it. I mean he is supposedly a great lover and connoisseur of sexual act, so he goes to his mistresses to satisfied his darker needs but not once does it occur to him to seduce his own wife. WTF? Then, if that wasnt bad enough, towards the end of the book he basically FORCES the heroin to have sex with his brothers when she clearly didnt want do it at all. GOD, I never thought I would hate a ménage scene until I got to this one (and I usually love erotica books like that).
Also, overall, the hero was so cold and unfeeling towards the heroin that there was really was no romance at all in the book. No courting, no emotional talking or anything like that.
I wouldnt recommend this book to anyone. I hate the fact that I collected all the books in the series and I really hope is not bad as this or else I just wasted bunch of credits for no reason.

Well, *interesting* concept (don't think I need to say what, wink, wink). I didn't feel the romance between Jane and Nick. Call me old fashioned, but after the couple get together I don't want to read about him being with other women. Um, no. I was curious about Izabel and what she wanted. I thought that resolved a little too quickly.

WOW this is a naughty book. The first chapter is wild and erotic as hell and then it cools off for about 90 pages and then it's risque again. There is treachery afoot. Someone (or something) threatens Jane which forces Nick to propose marriage quickly in order to protect her. Nick has his way with her and promptly leaves for raunchy sex with his mistresses (yes more than one and more than one at a time). I felt the romance (courting) was forced and not real. Nick made no real effort to have a relationship with Jane. He just wanted to beget an heir and be done with it. He was more interested in finding his pleasure elsewhere. Of course, as with all romance novels, this changes eventually but I found it dropped my rating from a 4 to a 3 since I just didn't feel the love between them. I'm hoping the other novels in the series (5 so far) have better relations between the hero and heroine.

My bookclub read this most of them didn't like it but I thought this was a great start for a new series and the sex is hot, hot, hot! I like that the 3 brothers are so different but they are there for each other. Will I get the next one in the series - yes, I already ordered it. Try this book you won't be disappointed.
Sorry to say I hated this book. Put it down about half way through. I am not a fan of historicals so this may be why I disliked it so much.
Wow! Excellent story with just enough mythology and suspended belief to make it interesting. Hot encounters and a sweet ending. Can't wait to read Raine's story.
I was disappointed by this book. The story was slower than I expected it to be. It doesn't flow well from one part to another. The story Erotica, but I had trouble believing the bad guy was dangerous. There needs to be a back story. I was left with more questions than the story answered.
This was just okay for me. Plenty of explicit sex, which is always good, but the storyline was pretty jumpy. And there were some parts where it didn't feel like I was reading the first in a series, like there were some things I was supposed to know beforehand. Anyway, if you're looking for a quick read with lots of hot sex, this is perfect.
Very hot book. Naughty to the nth degree. The writing style is nice and easy to read, and the plot is interesting. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. These books are not for everyone, the intimate scenes are quite shocking.
I'm sorry to say that I'm one of the few that didn't particularly care for this book. I read some of the reviews and the summary and thought I would, but alas I didn't. There was just too much going on in the book. While I understand that in the first book of a series it may be daunting for the author to give the characters a back story while explaining why certain things are happening, this book just had way too much going on. Some of the story was overwhelmingly sexual and teetered on being a bit overrated.
I would have enjoyed this book immensely if it didn't have the story of Jane's father (not really her father) and her aunt (half sister to the father) having sexual relations since they were teens. I had my doubts about the sexiness of a satyr, the mythological half man half goat or horse. What a pleasant surprise. Although the book starts off describing three satyr brothers in the woods who eventually sprout animal-hairy legs and a second penis, the story was extremely sensual, sexy, and romantic. Set in early 1800's even the historical aspect is well told. The characters were engaging and the story, while certainly rooted entirely in fantasy, was convincing with a romance that developed at an even pace and built to a real love story by the end. In a book with a hero with two penises, it was remarkably absorbing and memorable. And the sexiness factor was blistering hot.

Jane accepts her situation and Nicholas whisks her off to his vineyard where Jane will eventually learn of Nicholas's beastly behavior.
I have to say, I have heard a lot of rumors about this series, rumors about the crazy sexual things that happen in The Lords of Satyr series. I wasn't really sure how I would feel about the book because of that, but I have to say I actually enjoyed it. Yep, I confirm that there is a bunch of crazy, satyr sex happening but despite all of that I thought the characterization and plot were better than average. A lot of it was outrageous and I was expecting that, which allowed me to sit back and just enjoy my reading experience. It is what it is.
Since Nicholas and Jane didn't know each other before marriage, the book focuses a lot on Jane and Nick working out the kinks most newlyweds have but throw in a few fantastical elements, like the fact that she is half Fae and he is a satyr and these two have their work cut out for them. Nicholas's views on women were too archaic for my taste, but I loved that Jane was willing to address the situation head on and not let Nicholas run roughshod all over her. I will definitely be giving the next book in the series a try.

this book is hot hot hot!! I could not put it down! I loved the characters in it, and the whole idea of another world out there. I'm working on the rest of the series and burning up each book as quickly as life will let me!! I love this book!
Short version: 2 1/2 stars for the sex - it's not bad, and some of it is quite good. Nothing too too kinky, in my opinion (a very mild bit of bondage in one scene, one scene involving multiple partners, and a little bit of DP), but pushes some boundaries. However, zero additional stars for plot. There was some plot build-up, but it was resolved far too quickly and with too little care. Also, the last chapter tries to throw a plot-twist in, but there's too little time left to actually resolve it. So, just keep in mind that any "plot" is really just an excuse for more sex scenes. I don't think that's a bad or invalid choice, but it's something to be aware of.
Loved this book and read it in a day. Couldn't put it down. I have to say I did think that it would be more explicit than it was based on the book's cover warnings and other reviews I read, but it was still amazing. I can't wait to read the other books in the series!
