This book, the brief edition, is the first 4 tutorials from the comprehensive book (it has 10). The tutorials are very comprehensive. The glossary/index is combined so you can see the definition and the page number in one place. The tutorials are 1) Creating a Document, 2) Editing and Formatting a Document, 3) Creating a Multiple-page Report, and 4) Desktop Publishing and Mail Merge. So you'll get a very good overview. If you're looking for the textbook, you're probably looking for the comprehensive book.
