This is probably one of my favourite books of all time. It is told in a story-like way as it discusses theology and different aspects of spirituality in a way that doesn't bore you. It is the tale of two friends at different places in their spiritual walk and how they helped each other along the way. If you have grown up in traditional evangelical Christianity, it will leave you with a lot of things to think about. I can safely say that this book changed my life, in all non-corny meanings of that phrase.

I have heard many people say that this book is controversial. Personally, I found the philosophies and new takes on Christianity to be enlightening and very thought provoking. There is also a great story line that made the book flow well. It's nice to see people out there like McLaren who are thinking and writing outside the box.

Great book! I really enjoyed. The story line wasn't incredibly strong, as in it was obvious he was trying to throw the story in amongst all his thoughts and ideas on post moderntiy. But the characters grew on me and I can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy.
