I start orientation on Monday. This won't be like the job I had when we started the book club which was just part time. I'll be working at least fourty hours so I may start to be a slacker in this forum. If it gets to the point that I feel I can't keep up I'll ask for help for sure but I just wanted to throw out a suggestion. Would it be ok if from now on the person who put the winning book on the list leads the discussion for that month?

eta if you don't feel comfortable running the discussion you can let me know and I'll do it but it will be helpful if in the future I don't have to do it every month.

Congratulations!!  Hope your new job is one you will enjoy!

Sure, if my book wins the vote, I'll be happy to run the discussion.

ETA - and I'll help you out in any way you need.  I can run discussions of any book you need me to help with whether it is my selection or not.

Thanks guys, I'll be working for Caterpillar, they make small engines at the place I'll be working, nothing huge like excavators or bull dozers.

I will be fine leading if my book wins.  talking in a forum where you can edit before you hit sent is a lot less stressful than public speaking or even a live book discussion group.

Ugh, I have to work Saturday, I'll only get one day off this week and from the looks of it, it will be like this for the next month or more.

That sucks. I worked 6 days a week for a couple years and it starts to wear on you after awhile. And you never get anything done.

It shouldn't surprise me that it's busy since they just hired a gazillion people but my mothers bday is tomorrow and I may not even get to do anything for her bday this weekend. Looking forward to the pay check though.

One of the best 'gifts' my mother ever gave/taught us, is it isn't necessary to celebrate on the actual day.  She was just glad we could get together leisurely rather than rushed on the actual birthday or holiday.   I try to share that idea with my kids now.
