Anyone up for a new general discussion? I'll post a list on the 1st if we are. I'll be adding a caveat to this one though, no books with more than 500 pages. Epics are great but not when you have a deadline. The Thirteenth Tale is the winner I forgot to update until now sorry.

Sounds good.

I'm moving along much better with the kindle version but it's still taking time. I have percentages now instead of page numbers and I put 10 % on it in the past day and a half so I'll be done in time but I was beginning to wonder....I had to put it down and read something lighter for a few days.

I'm game.  Will get back to GOT after New Years.  I had to take a break from it.  Reading Knit the Season right now.

It is a book that requires a break or two isn't it. There's just so much going on. I'm reading trashy tabloids in the bathroom to clear my head.

Honestly, I just wanted to read something more holiday oriented for the last couple of weeks.  I read An Irish Country Christmas, and now on Knit the Season.  I might do one more short one for the Contemporary Fiction challenge for next year before finishing GOT for our discussion by the 15th.

Happy New Year!!  Don't forget to hide your money outside.

Um, why are we hiding our money outside?

I dunno about hiding it but my mom always throws a handful of pennies out the back door at midnight on New Years, she says it brings good fortune in the front door.

On New Year's Eve, hide some money outside.  You bring it in the front door on New Year's Day so you bring in good fortune all year.

It is said that whatever you do on New Year's Day is what you will do all year long.  So I make a point NOT to do housework or laundry that day, LOL!!

Discussion voting list is posted in the first post. Also I added the minimum posted limit of 10 back to this one so we don't have to worry about buying books for the first discussion of the year. Oh and 500 pages or less please. Eta voting ends on the 15th of January.

I've read Thirteenth Tale, and liked it enough to write a review for the PBS blog - no spoilers.  I did say I could read it again, and will if it is chosen, but I haven't voted for it yet.

Posted an invite in the mystery forum in a discussion thread.  Hopefully we will get some more people to discuss.

Cool we haven't had a lot of participation lately. I was chalking it up to recovering from the holidays but that is well over now.

Finished this morning. Wow, that's one that will stick with you. I don't know that mystery would be my first classification though.

I started last night. I haven't been in a reading mood lately but this one looks like it might go by quickly and get me out of my slump.

It stayed very engaging for me. One of the ones you hate to put down because you need to know what happens.

I read through to about a quarter of the book. I was really distracted but it was still engaging. I'll probably have it finished with a couple days to spare. Now that I've said that I've probably jinxed myself. I'm still not finished with Game of Thrones. It's on the shelf with Map of Time. Books that are very long tend to get put aside several times before I finish them. It doesn't matter how engaging and interesting it is, if it's more than 400 pages I'll get bored.

Hi, I am enjoying it but not finished, how about an extension on that deadline?
