Excellent - hang the regulations, lets get the job done type of story. Lots of action, good story line, hard charging. One of the "Brotherhood of War" series, but "The Aviators" and "The New Breed" are stand-alone stories in their own right. If you read this you'll want to read the "Brotherhood of War" series. Highly enjoyable.
If you enjoy- or want to understand- the passion behind the heroic soldier, W.E.B. Griffin tells it like no other. He understands sacrifice and patriotism. He is able to portray better than any other author the experience of serving your country. A must read for any military buff, and even those who aren't.
Griffin at his usual great writing.

From the blistering jungles of Vietnam to the far-flung battlefields of the African Congo, they faced the turmoil of a new era. It was a different kind of war. But the courage and skill of these young fighting men were an American tradition. Like their fathers before them, they rose up to the ultimate challenge of military valor, holding their own in a storm of clashing cultures. They were America's new breed. The proudest and the best...the New Breed.
