Frightening account of a powerful man from a powerful family and his obsession with a younger woman. Read the book in almost one sitting. Ann Rule is very descriptive and uses lots of dialog.....she's a wonderful author.

Real attention keeper...live close to the area, so it was very close to home with locations. Strange to know the crime could happen and be solved with such little evidence. Creative writing, very good book!! A+++

This is the first true crime book I have read and now I'm hooked. Ann Rule did an excellent job of telling about the key players past and how the trial took place.

A gruesome crime, told with Rule's customary thorough attention to detail. Some of Capano's statements are so implausible that one cannot imagine how he (an intelligent person) could even utter them. As a reader, I was left with sadness that a bright and likeable young woman would attach herself to such an exploitative, heartless and destructive man.

This author is one of the best true crime authors available. Detail and readability always very good. This event occured in 1996 and may seem familiar as it was featured as a CBS mini-series. This book includes a section of photos of the people and places.

For people who like true crime stories, Ann Rule is the best. This is about the shattering crime sory that shocked the nation: The Thomas Capano Murder Case.
You can't stop reading it. I have read few of Mrs. Rule's books and is still surprise me how as human we act. Not only the criminal mind, but the victim's mind is a world that no one want to be. Its always surprise me how easy a person can hurt and kill someone, but can't not love enough to let it go.

I LOVE Ann Rule!! Her books always hold me enthralled and this one is no exception. I like that there is always one main story then at the end there are short versions of other cases.

Started off a little slow but picked up and became very intense. Not a easy read due to subject but a story that needed to be told. A little heavy on details at times but Rule did a good job.

while i've never read a true crime book before, i don't think i like this type of book. there was way too much detail and it took forever to actually get into the story line. the first part of the book describe the characters ancestors. i don't see a point in reading about a person's grandparents, it didn't matter in the plot. as much as i wanted to put this book down, i didn't because i wanted to see what happened in the end.

I love Ann Rule! This one kept me up way past my bedtime..........
Absolutely riveting. Of course, I love all of Ann Rule's books! This one was especially interesting because it involved a male lawyer of good standing with the community who almost got away with murder. He is a true psychopath and most manipulative. It is interesting to see how people like this entrap innocent victims in their web.
well-written. A little dry in spots. Would recommend writer.

Another true crime story from Ann Rule. Tom Capano seemed like a successful family man and business man well liked in the community of Wilminton Delaware; but the truth was that he was a cold blooded stalker of several women and premeditated killer of Anne Marie Fahey.

THE SHATTERING CRIME STORY THAT SHOCKED THE NATION:
THE THOMAS CAPANO MURDER CASE
On a June evening in 1996, 30-year-old Anne Marie Fahey, secretery to the governor of Delaware, vanished without a trace following a restaurant rendezvous with her secret lover of more than two years: Thomas Capano. One of Wilmington's most prominent and respected figures, a millionaire attorney and former state proscecutor, "Tommy" was a charming, soft-spoken family man. But in the weeks and months that followed Fahey's disappearance investigators would gradually uncover the shocking truth: Capano was a steely manipulator driven by power and greed - and capable of brutal murder. In a riveting narrative expertly documented by probing interviews, diary entries, and e-mail correspondence, and with superb insight into the twisted motivations of a killer, Ann Rule chronicles a real life drama of Shakespearian proportions: ambitions fall, love turns to obsession, family names are tainted, the facade of success crumbles - and a beautiful but vulnerable young woman pays the ultimate price in a convoluted and deadly relationship.
