Goodness! This is such a beautiful ending to a stellar series! I simply could not put this book aside.

Kit has been sent to Texas by his father, because Kit is in love with his brothers wife. Before he leaves, she dies of cancer. Kit carries a tremendous amount of guilt about his love for Clarissa and her death.

Kit is now the marshal of Fortune, Texas. A close friend asks Kit to marry his sister who is dying of consumption (tuberculosis) and will be dead in a few months. The brother, David, knows his sister, Ashton, wants to marry before she dies and he knows she is smitten with Kit.

There are several sub-plots that are as interesting as the main subject. The relationship between Kit and his twin, Christopher, is very realistic. I have known identical twins with this mental telepathy.

Research shows that the one thing that people wish they had is a twin! Kit and Christophers relationship shows why. There is nothing more satisfying than having another person totally understand you even without words.

This is a very emotional tale; get out a fresh box of tissues!
