A new series with a 21 year old overwhelmingly tough, kick-ass female detective trying to act like Jack Reacher. Her brother is arrested for the murder of several women , therefore she is sent away to an outpost mining camp in the Australian desert to get away from the press. She and her partner Whitt are assigned to find the killer of some missing minors.

It was an okay book and nothing to get excited about but the chapters were short and there was enough suspense and tension to continue on. I heard the sequel Fifty Fifty is much better and since I have it on my TBR hopefully it will be the story of her brother who is claiming his innocence.

This is not a great book, when it first came out I tried it and couldn't finish it, but now the book Fifty Fifty has come out and I read it and it was fairly good

This book is just too long and too busy, sometimes it goes pages and pages for just one incident that could've been cut down to one page so at times it makes for tedious reading

The story isn't very good and unless you live or are from Australia some of the phases and words will confuse you so it takes time to get used to that (and I don't like that)

I thought the story was going to be more about the brother Sam, but it isn't, it is just about Harriet getting sent to a desert mining operation to find missing persons, well that might be okay but it just drags out too much

Harriet is a tough talking roughneck for a detective and I think her favorite word is 'f' so be prepared for that

Overall I don't think Patterson wrote any of this one and that Fox wrote the entire thing, I've read one of hers and I liked it but this one I just can't give much praise, however I did like book 2
