The third book in Ms. Thompson's on-going NERD Series, NERD GONE WILD does everything but fail to disappoint. This book joins together another no-nonsense heroine in the form of spunky Ally Jarrett, a nerd-in-disguise hero, Mitchell Carruthers, and a set of chilly circumstances that's bound to heat up even the most jaded romance reader.
For Ally, there's only been on goal for as long as she can remember-head to Alaska, that glacial state where moose outnumber humans ten to one, and take photographs of the wildlife. So, her grandmother died and left her millions? That's nothing but a blip on her Alaska-trekking radar. So, she needs to sign about a million pages of paperwork to transfer deeds, settle estates, take charge of stocks? She can do that, if scrawling her name will get her on that plane to the wilderness faster. So, she has to deal with pencil-pushing, fashion-failure Mitchell to get all of her grandmother's affairs in order? It's a tough task, but if it will lead to escape in the freezing wilds of Alaska, she'll do what she needs to do.
She arrives in Porcupine, Alaska, free of social restraints and one wardrobe-challenged legal adviser, and she's finally free to embark on the adventures that Alaska has to offer. Sort of. That is, she would have been able to embark on adventures, if she hadn't been waylaid by Betsy, the proprietor of the Loose Moose lodge, on her way out the door with her camera. And if one Mitchell Carruthers, dressed in a gigantic orange parka that appeared to be the offspring of a mating between a giant emergency cone and a dreamsicle, hadn't shown up at the lodge just as she was attempting to leave. And, of course, if a blizzard roaring into town hadn't forced said fashion-disaster, geek in a suit, nerd with a pocket protector, to become the second guest at a lodge in the middle of nowhere.
Mitchell, of course, isn't just a card-carrying member of Nerds-R-Us. He's a private investigator and a bodyguard, masquerading as a simple assistant to Ally's late grandmother. He was hired to do much more than protect the financial assets of the Jarrett fortune-but he seems to be getting side-tracked by the very personal assets of one Miss Ally Jarrett. Too bad Ally can't do anything but shudder at his geek disguise every time she looks at him.
What follows is a hilarious romp through the Alaskan wilderness, some chilly days avoiding danger, and some hot, hot nights between the sheets. Kudos to Ms. Thompson for another great NERD book. I, for one, can't wait to see what comes next.

Quick & fun read - didn't put it down till I finished the whole book.

LOVED THIS BOOK. This is the 3rd book in the Nerd series. The books are NOT related though, so it doesn't matter what order you read them in. The only thing they have in common is the Nerd theme. This is the 3rd one of the series that I have read. I can honestly say there was NOTHING about this book that i DIDN'T like.
I don't give 5 star ratings very often, but this one deffinately deserved it. Of the 3 Nerd books I have read so far this one is the absolute best. It is probably one of the best "light" romances I have read in a while. It is funny from the get go and the comedy never lets up. There are no dull or lagging parts in the book either. The two main characters, Ally and Mitchell are very lovable and the supporting cast of nut jobs make this book hard to put down.
Ally is a very rich heiress, having inherited all of her late grandmothers fortune. She is a very level headed girl, no matter how much money she has, but she also has a need for adventure. She takes off to Alaska to take wildlife pictures in an effort to fullfill her dream of becoming a photographer. Mitchell is the man her grandmother hired before her death to protect Ally, both her money AND her life. Ally doesn't know, though that Mitchell has the skill or knowhow to be a protector of anything other than her bank account. Mitchell plays the nerd role well, following her to Alaska under the ruse of paperwork and estate details. Ally just wants him to take his Nerd clothes, his Nerd personality and his Nerd control HOME. Little does Ally know that "Mitch"ell isn't going anywhere. He is really a PI/Bodyguard and is there to protect her from her one living relative, her uncle Kurt - who is NOT the man he pretends to be.
This book has it all. Laughs, adventure, mystery, sex, and did I mention Laughs?! I don't think it is possible to be disappointed in this book! I can't wait to read the next one.

One of the best in the Nerd series of books! And if you haven't tried this series, well you really must give it a shot if you like your romance with a bit of humor and wrapped up in adventure.

By the author of "The Nerd who Loved Me," which was a 'Reading with Ripa Book Club' selection, this is a fun, fast read. Funny 'thriller' romance about an heiress who wants to be a wildlife photographer and a bodyguard/PI who is posing as the nerdy bookkeeper of her inheritance while trying to protect her from those who might kill her for her money. The sex in this book is way beyond the norm for romance novels with a very high 'kink factor' and no use of euphemisms--be warned if that makes you uncomfortable.
Part of the NERD series. It was very funny.
Another great in Vicki Lewis Thompson's "Nerd" series.
As always, Vicki Lewis Thompson writes another winner! Her "nerd" series is a wonderful read!
Fun Story!
It's a fun romance with a little bit of action and mystery.
FUNNY! SEXY! ROMANTIC!
Oh so good! I am now going to find the others in the series.
Cute story, quick, easy read.
This is a pretty good read.
A great read. Quirky & fun small-town characters, fast-moving plot, & a steamy romance.
really a cute book, the nerd is a hunk.
Cute & funny
Thoroughly loved this book. Good relaxing read.
Ally has inherited a fortune and is ready to take off for the wilds of Alaska. Unfortunately she also inherited her grandmother's personal assistant - an overprotective nerd wh couldn't survive a snowball fight - or could he?
Fun read...read it before joining PBS, just realized it was a series...off to find the Nerds.
Fun escapism
This is a new twist to Thompson's nerd series in that for the first time the hero really isn't a nerd. In some ways that's disappointing for nerd lovers like myself, but it's also fun to see what depths he will go to to maintain his nerd facade. This series is Thompson's best, and all of them are fun reads.
I love all of the Nerd books,They are funny, hot and makes you rethink every thing you think you know about nerds,The storey lines or smart, funny and very enjoyable. The are not your typical romance.
Fun...enjoyed the town and all the crazy characters - needed Sarah Palin to make it complete!
a very sweet read. gotta love those hotties in nerd disguise.
I'm not used to reading these types of books, but it was vague and predictable. It was boring and I cannot believe this book was ever published and to think the author actually has written other books about so-called nerds. Too cheesy in my opinion. A lot of vulgar wording and really takes out the romance, respect, and honor in a relationship. It was pretty trashy.
I'm enjoying this "nerd" series -- funny!
Inheriting a fortune means less to Ally Jarrett than fulfilling her real dream: to take off for the wilds of Alaska and photograph animals. Unfortunately she's also inherited her grandmother's personal assistant - and overprotective nerd who couldn't survive a snowball fight.
As a PI and bodyguard, Mitchall Carruthers is the perfect man to protect his late emlpoyer's granddaughter. However, keeping his geek-masquerade -and the secret behind his real mission - isn't easy when the freeze between Ally and Mitchell begins to melt.
Yet all's not well in this sub-zero paradise. Ally's bad seed uncle is staking a claim on the family inheritence with a dangerous masquerade of his own. With Ally's life in danger, it's time for her right-hand nerd to expose the real man undercover, and prove himself to the vulnerable body he's been hired to guard...

Funny/Quick Read
I bought this book as something to read while stuck on a road trip. I assumed it a silly romance novel and I didn't expect much out of it. The title hooked me as I like stories of nerdy guys getting the girl. Honestly, It's one of the better romance novels I've read. It tends to be a bit slow, and the premise is, let's face it, REALLY "out there" as far as premises go, but for escapism, it's great. The scene is set well early in the book and one can lose themselves in the book for a few hours and enjoy the book. It has a good mix of comedy with the sexual tension that is implicit in this form of novel and the resolution is satisfying.
funny series
cute breezy read. Took me a bit to get into it but once the story got going it was good.
Great story...excellent book.
this book made me laugh.
Makes me want a nerd of my own!
Entertaining story.
Cute, made me smile, but predictable
A little far fetched, but entertaining none-the-less. The plot is decent and the characters amusing. Not as good as The Nerd Who Loved Me, but a recommended read.
Ally Jarrett: Heiress wanting to photograph the wilds and animals of Alaska...WITHOUT the overprotective nerd who couldn't survive a snowball fight! Or could he?
Mitchell Carruthers....PI and bodyguard...geek masquerade and the secret he carries MUST stay in place and he has to protect Ally and keep his libido in check! Hard task especially when he really starts to fall for Ally .....
Great and very very funny!!!! Must read!!

I like the nerd series.
definitely a cute book...now I want to read the rest in the series.
This book was to predictable for me. Very light read
Fun and quirky. Recommended.
I loved this book! I usually read historical romance but this book was so today...a fresh mix of everything sexy and funny.
A pretty good book.
Good book. Not as good as "Nerd In Shining Armor" but definitely decent.

I ended up skimming most of this story. The characters were interesting but the plot fell a bit short. Also, the nerd isn't really... nerdy.
lots of fun and a super quick read.
The heiress with a hot fortune and looks to match..
the nerd who came in from the cold...
they're in danger, over their heads, and under the gun...
constant entertainment - smart, spunky...sexy

A really boring book; I just couldn't get into it. Read about 3 chapters and quit. The heroine was SO stupid; couldn't she see the hero was a hunk in disguise!
This was a very good book. Finished it in 2 days.
Great author, great book.
"....a new novel about a undercover "nerd" who offers a beauty something she can't live without....."
Third book in the Nerd series. Loved it.
Very light and entertaining.
