A fun suspense thriller. I enjoyed the first-person POV. The Negotiator - we never do learn his name - has an engaging personality. He seems a little too careless and trusting though - the reader will figure out a couple of people who aren't what they seem a long time before he does. But it's got good pacing, snappy dialogue, and interesting characters. Dubois looks like he's left it open to produce more if he decides to make it into a series, but this one ends perfectly well as a standalone.
