I expected to like this book a lot more than I actually did. I never connected with the characters. I expected the house itself to be more of a "character" than it actually was.

This book had all the elements that I love. Warlocks, speaking with the dead, monsters, spell casting that sometimes goes awry.

I had a hard time finishing this one. The ending was OK. There is a bit of LGBTQ content, but I don't remember anything overly explicit. That didn't bother me, and actually, it made sense to the story.

All in all, the question is this: Would I recommend this one to a friend? Possibly.....for someone just getting into the genre - No. There are better books out there with the same or similar elements. For someone who already enjoys the genre - maybe, especially if they tend to prefer more literary works.
