Things to know about this book:
1. The writing style is extremely poor, which I found hugely distracting. Trudeau is not a writer, and it shows.
2. Trudeau suggests Scientology/Dianetics is the best thing to follow. While I don't know if he is a Scientologist, this is an instant deal breaker for me.
3. The book has some common sense (fast food is filled with toxins and if you eat it all the time, you're going to get sick) and there are some interesting ideas, but over all it reads like a paranoid rant where Trudeau wants you to know that he's going to be taken down at any time.
4. This book sets up a complete lifestyle change. Trudeau himself says that it's not realistic to try to do everything at once, but to follow his advice and never be sick again, you have to change everything you are doing right now. Things like getting a special filter installed in your shower, removing all metal dental work, getting 15 colonic in 30 days, not eating pork, no longer taking any prescription or over the counter medication, not eating anything made by man, and more.
5. Trudeau states over and over that the FTC will not let him list specific brands so he continually referrs the reader to his website where he urges you to become a member. Bascially the book is an ad for his site. To join (as of 6/1/06) it's $9.95 a month or $999 for a lifetime membership. In the book he claims he makes no money off of these fees but uses every cent to continue his research.

If you follow his advice you may very well never get sick again and cure anything you already have, but be prepared to change every single aspect of how you live.

In the interest of consumer safety, I feel compelled to point out that Kevin Trudeau's book does not list any specific brands because the FDA has forbidden him from doing so, due to his multiple occurrences of misrepresentation, false advertising and other misdeeds. Let's not forget that the author has absolutely no medical training, formal, informal, Eastern, Western or otherwise. He is listed at Quackwatch as a "Promoter of Questionable Methods". Caveat emptor.

Who are they? Go to your Dr. and don't buy into this crap. I have a major disease with plenty of 'cures'. Don't let this false hope steer you away from the hard decisions that have to be made.

Blah blah blah blah...
translation...Very poor writing about people who are trying to assasinate me; more blah blah blah that you can read hundreds of places with true detail but if you want detail from me, go to my website and sign up for my newsletter for $$$$...
I read book a library copy of this book, then someone gave me new copies of book one and two. I wouldn't recommend buying either book for real money. A credit maybe, that you could get back after you slam the books shut in disgust and repost...

I've only browsed the book and doubt I'll read it cover to cover. I tend to be suspicious of people like Trudeau who are on board with every new age fad that comes along from eating naturally (which I agree with but he goes so far overboard--easy for him; he has a staff to make sure his food is 100% natural) to magnet therapy to Scientology. Most repulsive is the way he reviles everyone from the pharmacy industry to the grocer because "they" only want in your pocket, yet every other section, he's referring you to his web site to buy his products. And I should believe him because.....?

Dismal spewing of Trudeau's whacky ideas:useless, deserves -10 stars

What Kevin Trudeau doesn't want you to know
The author of the bestselling "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" claims to be a consumer advocate in the Ralph Nader mold. But the infomercial king just wants your cash.

By Christopher Dreher

Jul 29, 2005 | Many a late-night channel surfer has been numbed to sleep by endless infomercials hawking ab machines, penis enlargers, psychic readings and baldness cures. But how about a 30-minute faux talk show featuring a slick "expert author" who promises natural cures for cancer, diabetes and chronic fatigue syndrome and who claims that the FDA, drug companies and food industry have withheld such cures from the public in order to keep making bigger and bigger profits?

Step right up folks, and tune in to the paranoid world of master huckster Kevin Trudeau, whose book "Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About" climbed to the top spot on the New York Times bestseller list for advice titles last weekend. The Federal Trade Commission virtually banned Trudeau from the airwaves last year in an attempt to "shut down an infomercial empire that has misled American consumers for years." But by shifting his business model from selling supposed cure-all products to peddling books, which are protected by the First Amendment, Trudeau has been able to slip past federal regulators and continue to sell snake oil to the masses -- first through his infomercial and now via mainstream book retailers like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.

Reno R. Rollé, an executive consultant who handles U.S. retail and international distribution for "Natural Cures," says the book has sold nearly 3 million copies since the infomercial debuted in September 2004, and he sees no end in sight to its success. "No one knows where this thing is going to max out. We're just printing as many books as we can," Rollé says. "We're poised to make history here. What we're doing could revolutionize the book publishing industry."

Even before hitting the bestseller list, Trudeau, who is in his early 40s, had built a billion-dollar empire as a prolific infomercialteer, selling various health and self-improvement products under the cover of night. This despite a two-year stint in federal prison in the early '90s after pleading guilty to credit card fraud, and a 1996 tangle with the Illinois attorney general, who accused him of running a pyramid scheme while working for a health-products company called Nutrition for Life. Trudeau and a co-defendant settled that case, paying $185,000 to Illinois and seven other states; during that time, the U.S. Postal Service and Securities and Exchange Commission also investigated his business dealings.

He is a bit of a "know it all" but some of his points are good...e.g. don't treat the symptoms, treat the problem - why do you have a headache, etc. It remains to be seen whether his advice of "never taking any medications because they are poison" (OTC or RX) is true. He bascially says everything is poison (processed food, fruits/veggies/meat) - I'd love to know what he eats besides home juiced carrot juice!
