"John Gillestrap pushes every thilller button and acroitly blends a twisting plot with pointed conmmentary on contemoporary issues...Skinll in rendering the thoughts of an intelligent young boy...nail biting denouement and strong peripheral characters"

Nathan Bailey knows life is unfair. He knows how cruel people can be, even in the face of innocence and youth. He knows how sometimes you have to kill to defend yourself; and that when you do, you'd better be ready to run fast and hard. Now, fleeing down the dark highways of America, Nathan has no place to go, and the whole world is looking for him.
Filled with razor sharp insight and told with breakneck pacing, Nathan's Run is a tale of courage summoned from the depths of the spirit, a story of love unearthed from unexpected places, a triumph that has left critics in awe and readers cheering for more.

Nathan Bailey was just an average twelve yr. old and then his life fell apart. His Father died in and accident and he was left in the care of a alcoholic uncle who was involved with the mob. Suddenly, Nathan is in reform school and accused of killing a guard. He escaped, barely, and is hunted by the police and a hit man. John Gilstrap also writes interesting stories with good characters. I have read all of his books, they are that good.

An engaging story of a young man who has no luck at all. He's caught in circumstances not of his doing nor in his control. Very readable, a good "beach book".

"Beginning with a savage killing at a suburban Virginia juvenile detention center, 'Nathan's Run' shuttles its diminutive protagonist, twelve year old Nathan Bailey, through a terrifying gauntlet. Accused of murder and branded a cop-killer, Nathan becomes the subject of a nation-wide manhunt even as a vicious hitman is closing in on him.

Orphaned and alone, Nathan has nowhere to turn for help.
To stay alive he can only count on himself: on his agility, natural cleverness, and honesty. Ironically, the latter proves a formidable weapon as the boy endears himself to a national radio talk host, and, along the way, pleads his case to a rapt nation.

Electrifying, achingly poignant, and filled with profound insights into the war society wages against its children, 'Nathan's Run' is truly a remarkable debut."
