Not an Amelia, but fun.
Elizabeth Peters does it again. This book is WAY different from her other series so don't expect Amelia Peabody. This mystery revolves around the publishing enterprise and the format follow the Agatha Christie format. The story is a great yarn culmonating in the 'get all suspects in the same room'. Humor and excellent character development abound in the course of this mystery and will keep you reading. If you are a writer, or a want-to-be writer, this is a really fun mystery that you will appreciate becuase the heroine is a writer and incorporates the writing realities. This mystery was a surprise to me because the writing is very different from her other mysteries. The biggest similarity is the humor in character and plot development. This is a must read whether you like Elizabeth Peters or not. I've read all her books and this, off her main grid, is way too fun to ignor.

My favorite of all Elizabeth Peter's books! I kept hoping she would write more with this character.

She may be a bestselling author, but ex-librarian Jacqueline Kirby's views on the publishing biz aren't fit to print. Kirby, a character with outrageous clothes and an equally outrageous mouth is fun.
She may be a bestselling author, but ex-librarian Jacqueline Kirby's views on the publishing bix aren't fit to print. In fact, she's thinking of traiding celebrity for serenity and a house far away from fiendish editors and demented fans when her agent whispers the only words that could ever maker her stay: "Naked in the Ice."
Seven years ago, this blockbuster skyrocketed Kathleen Darcy to instant fame. Now, the author's heirs are looking for a writer to pen the sequel. It's an opportunity no novelist in her right mind would pass up, and there's no doubting Jacqueline's sanity ... until she starts digging through the missing woman's papers-and her past. Until she gets mixed up with Kathleen's enigmatic lover. Until a series of nasty accidents comvince her much too late that someone wants to bring Jacqueline's story-and her life- to a premature end.

Another Jackie Kirby. Like the romance writer convention one (the name escapes me), it's rather amusing, but I find this character a teeny bit irritating. I know it's the author's doing, but I feel like this character is keeping secrets which she'll only reveal in the end.
Love Elizabeth Peters - she just does not write books that are not the best!
