This is the 1st of the In Death series. For those who don't know, J.D. Robb is Nora Robert's alter ego. I'm not a big fan of Nora Roberts, although I do read her work occasionally. I will say that she writes in a very different style as J.D. Robb. I really enjoyed this book. It is not for the squeamish of faint of heart....the crime in the book is very brutal and graphic and extremely sexual in nature. I like the fact that while it is set in the future, the settings and devices used are actually somewhat plausible. It's a fascinating premise with a solid crime/mystery. I definitely plan on reading more of this series.

This is the very first "In Death" book in the series and I enjoyed seeing how Roarke and Dallas dealt together the first time they met. It's no wonder this falls under the heading of romantic suspense! The other books, while they've got some definite sex scenes and romance to them, seem to deal more with the mystery than with the relationships; this book focused pretty heavily on the relationship between them.

Nora Roberts writes a truckload of books, but I don't care for them. When she puts on her JD Robb hat, I think she sticks to plot development and her characters.
That's why I proudly own every one of JD Robb's books about a butt kicking, smart, survivor, a murder detective named Lieutenant Dallas. The support characters are also developed in later books.
Recently I went back and started with this one, the first book about Dallas, then spent a couple of weeks reading all of the rest of them in order.
I read a lot, and require that the author not stray on tangents, and keep the story interesting and not too predictable - that's what JD Robb does and I recommend her books for those readers who like some detective and total fantasy about a perfect man.

After 20+ books over 10+ years, I decided it was high time to go back to where it all began -- NAKED IN DEATH.

Here, author J.D. Robb (aka best-selling author Nora Roberts) introduces us to NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas, a force in her own right, and one of the trickiest cases yet. The granddaughter of a Senator has been brutally murdered, and the perpetrator promises that five more bodies are to follow. As Eve races against the clock to save more women from dying, she also must contend with her own feelings for Roarke, a self-made billionaire who early on is a suspect in the murders.

If you haven't read any of the "...IN DEATH" books, I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. The mystery and the romance are evenly balanced, Eve and Roarke are definitely intriguing characters, and the story just never gets old.

Going back to this first story in the series after having been a fan so long, I was grateful to be reminded of the meaning behind the gray button, how Galahad came into the picture, and how Somerset's attitude has been the same from the beginning.

NAKED IN DEATH is a winner, and you'll be happy to know that when you finish reading it, there are 24 more stories already published in the series. Happy Reading!!

Part romance, part police procedural, the In Death series is set in a non-idealized near future New York City. Naked in Death is first in the series and sets up the series nicely.

when i first started to read this book, i didn't think i was going to be into it because it takes place in the year 2058 and everything is run by technology. i'm glad i continued to read it, it turned out as good as every one says it is. eve is called to a scene of a murder. she discovers a naked and very dead legal prostitute. by the time the third murder victim is found, eve found herself falling for the lead suspect, roarke. eve tried everything she could to keep away from him, but her feelings were to strong.
this is a wonderful novel about love, murder, and trust. it is recommended for anyone who likes nora roberts.

This is the beginning of Eve Dallas and Rorake. Eve is on a case. A U.S.Senators granddaughter has been murdered. Roarke a rogue Irish billionaire is her prime suspect. She never believes for one minute she could fall in love with someone like him.

A spectacular beginning to a blockbuster series. It's 2058 and, though prostitution is now legal and regulated, it can still be a dangerous profession. Eve Dallas, a lieutenant in the modern version of the NYPD, gets the job of finding out who killed a very beautiful, very expensive prostitute in her own luxurious apartment. The woman is a member of a very wealthy influential family. The prime suspect seems to be the richest man in the world. He also happens to be handsome, sexy, determined and very interested in the lieutenant, a woman who has a past with a lot of holes in it that has left her with, among other things, nightmares and a reluctance to form relationships. The pacing is good, the characters are pretty well rounded, the dialogue is engaging and the book is hard to put down. If you're into murder mysteries give it a try. You'll probably like it. I certainly did. And do. I tend to read my way from beginning to end of the series about once a year.

this is the first book in the "In Death" series and it is worth reading. It sets a good foundation and introduces many of the regular characters, such as Roarke, Summerset,Mavis, Mira, etc.

Yeah Baby the first 3 books of this series are THE BEST!
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.

I started this series with books 21 and 22 unaware they were part of a series but I am hooked, Nora Robert really out does any series of books I have read. Her mix of romance and crime are entwined perfectly and love the setting of the stories which are in the future.

No matter which J.D.Robb book I pick up I love it. I like the realism of the characters and their emotions. They could be people you actually know and consider friends. It is amazing to watch the characters grow and develop in each book. Every book is a stand alone story, but reading one makes you want to find all the others and read them in order!

This is the book that started it all and what a wonderful series it started. The mystery/thriller parts are written very stratefic and full of suspense. The chemistry between Lt. Eve Dallas and Roarke is so steamy it almost makes you feel like your intruding.
This is a great series and "Naked in Death" is just the beginning.
