Fun. I like these books where different authors each write a chapter.

This is a great, quick read. I love the fact that many of today's great female mystery/crime writers have cooperated on this serial novel with each adding their own special flair. Keeps you guessing right to the end as it probably did them while it was being written! This was a fun book to read.

Never read a story written by so many. It was interesting to see how each author changed the plot in her chapter.

The promise of discretion and pampering-and a long-overdue reconciliation with her mother-draws Caroline Blessing, the young wife of a newly-elected Congressman, to the fancy Phoenix Spa. But after her first night in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Caroline wakes to find the rich and famous guests in turmoil and under suspicion: the spa's flamboyant and ambitious owner has been murdered. As the secrets come out-and the body count rises, can Caroline keep herself from becoming the next victim?

this was so much fun to read! at least 4 of my favorite authors.
each chapter was written by a different woman author, each building on
what had been written before. no setting up plots with each other, they
got what was written and had to go from there, reminds me playing
telephone as a kid.they all had to be written in 3rd person.
I would love to read more like this.
there were small differences in each style of writer,
but over all if you didn't know there were 13 different
women writing, you would not be aware of it.

Some good writing, so not so good.

This mystery novel, written by 13 different women (one chapter each) was unusual. While the mystery plot was so-so, the fun came from sampling different writers' work, and seeing how each advanced the plot and set up a new challenge for those to follow. Probably the hardest chapter to write (and also the hardest to read) was the last one, which had to tie up all the loose ends and bring resolution to some pretty far-flung plot elements.

The surprising thing about this book is that although I'm a fan of most of the writers, I wouldn't have been able to recognize any chapter as having been written by a particular author. They're all talented in different ways, and yet they wrote a very homogenized book.

Quick read. Interesting in that each chapter is written by a different author.

Most of my favorite authors have written a chapter in this book (Nevada Barr, JD Robb, Diana Gabaldon, Faye Kellerman to name a few).
It is interesting to see how they all collaborated on one novel and managed to pull it off into a cohesive cozy mystery.

This is a real page turner. I could not put it down. This is a murder mystery of epic proportions written by 13 female authors, including Nevada Barr, J.D. Robb, Faye Kellerman, Laurie King, and others! Each author wrote one chapter. It was miraculous how well it all flowed together and how very well written!

I can highly recommend this to mystery fans.

"Thirteen award-winning female mystery and crime writers present a fun, fast-pace, and exciting serial whodunit in the tradition of Naked Came The Manatee. Edited my award-winning author Marcia Talley, Naked Came The Phoenix boasts an outrageous plot, a colorful cast of characters, and the talents of some of the most popular authors working today.

Former cellist Caroline Blessing has come to the exclusive Phoenix Spa in the Blue-Ridge Mountains of Virginia for some world-class pampering. But there's no time for rest and relaxation when, just before sunrise stretch class, the spa's owner is found face down in a mudbath. Before Caroline can comprehend the grisly find, one of the spa's guests is murdered--then another, and another. To make matters worse, Caroline catches her supposedly devoted husband in an affair. Panic builds and the press gathers at the gates as nasty secrets are revealed, family ties unravel, and blackmail rears its ugly head. But nothing can prepare Caroline for the stupefying truth behind the gruesome string of killings..."
