Horseshoe Ranch, high in the Colorado Rockies, is a perfect spot for a family vacation--fishing, riding, backpacking and (for the Home School Detectives) unraveling a mystery. Billy Renner wants to investigate an old couple who seem to be acting very suspiciously. Could they be on the trail of Corrigan's treasure, missing for a hundres years? Josh Morgan, however, is interested in discovering more about Kim Carson, the strangely aloof blond wrangler at the ranch.

The excitement mounts for everyone as the detectives narrowly escape tragedy on a mountain trail, search for Kim's missing horse, meet a peculiar old mountain man named Ben, and gallop on a wild race that unravels the mystery in Lost Canyon.
