If you are an Anne McCaffrey fan, you know how great her sci-fantasy books are. If you haven't read a book by her, you should and The Mystery of Ireta is just the book to start with. For years, I've eagerly awaited her tales of dragons and dragonfolk in her Pern series, then along comes a book about a planet with dinosaurs that have been extinct from and indigenous only to Planet Earth. Following the adventures of a mining team sent to a planet in a far galaxy only to find sentient species that can reason just as they do is a good read. Enjoy.

This is the beginning of McCaffrey's Planet Pirate Series. If you've read Sassinak, The Death of Sleep, or Generation Warriors, you'll enjoy discovering Lunzie's history in The Mystery of Ireta.
I've read this book multiple times. My teen daughter has read it also. We ordered this copy because our book was falling apart and we want it in our library for future reading.
We are fans of Anne McCaffrey's Dragon series and Planet Pirate stories. We also like The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien), Keys to the Kingdom (Nix), Belgariad (Eddings), Harry Potter (Rowling), Dragon Prince (Rawn), Redwall (Jaques), and Asimov's Robot stories.
