The Egyptian Dynasty is one of the earliest organized cultures of the world; it certainly is the most important of the early institutions. Because new findings are coming to light every day, we continue to learn about their practice of mummification, their architecture, their theology. There doesn't seem to be a shortage of Egyptian mysteries to study for regular enthusiasts or scholars.

I had an opportunity to listen to Daniel Houle's reading of this book and I thought he made an interesting subject that much more compelling. I also had a Kindle copy and so I could look at the photos while Mr. Houle read the text. One topic mentioned in the book was the 'sea peoples' and I really wish someone would write more about them. They seem to have come up out of the sea, caused trouble for awhile, and disappeared.

The whole discussion of King Tut was fascinating. According to the CT scans (done in 2005), Tut died due to malaria and an infection in his leg. King Tut's tomb location supports the idea that his death was unexpected. The generous number of photos and drawings really added to an understanding of what the author was trying to explain. Next, the author explains how the pyramids were engineered by very intelligent and accomplished people.

Charles Rivers ventures into some strange areas by discussing oddities related to Egypt:
* The Mystery of the Cocaine Mummies,
* Just How far did the Egyptians Travel? Maybe the New World? How about Australia? How about Bosnia?
* The Truth about an Etruscan Mummy

If you are interested in hearing the debates over dynastic chronologies and architectural details about the Sphinx and the Pyramids, this is a great source.
