I love ghost stories and have been fascinated with stories about The Myrtles Plantation, supposedly the most haunted house in America. The Myrtles has been featured on The Travel Channel and other "ghost" programs.
This book is written by a former owner of The Myrtles. It describes how she and her husband bought the plantation, its frightening history, and the supernatural encounters that she herself had while living in the house. Her personal narration really draws you into the story and is quite believeable.
This book is a must-read for lovers of ghost stories, especially ghosts of the Old South. Will definitely keep you up at night! May even prompt a visit to The Myrtles!

Broken clocks tick....beds rise in the air.... paintings fly across the room....locked doors fling open -- and that's just for starters. The Myrtles is a 28-room Louisiana bed-and-breakfast.

Super scary book! A great read if you want to get spooked. The ending kind of fizzles out though, but I still recommend reading this - it's a good ghost story, with a lot of neat history mixed in.

A few years ago I read this book and then again this past week. It was just as interesting the second time around. Francis Kermeen bought the Myrtles Plantation, a 28 room historic mansion in Louisiana, and converted it into a romantic bed-and-breakfast. While living at the plantation the 10 years she owned it guests, friends and she herself encountered almost daily strange happenings (some very scary & dangerous),experienced sightings, and heard voices footsteps and music. The Myrtles still is in operation and of course I had to look it up online as soon as I finished the book to see the beautiful Plantation, the landscaping, & the original furnished rooms. To look at the house you wouldn't think of it as haunted. The story will go into the tragic history of the house. The life within the house after Francis bought it was wonderful. Her friends on the outside and those who lived there were very interesting people!! Francis tells how the historical society shunned her. She tells about the wonderful people who did welcome her and how the Plantation drained all who lived and worked there. It also tells the stories of those who lived and died and never left there. I loved this book!!
