I thought this was one of the better "Hugh Corbett" books, even though I ID'd the murderer about half-way through. Of course, I was wrong, but I was on the right track as to whom it might be. And I had the theft figured out before Corbett did. There were a lot of interesting characters in this book and the story moved right along, making me stay up until midnight to finish it. It is almost 400 pages long, and the last 200 pages flew by, but that is because it is a large print book.
I don't have all the Corbett books, so I have not read some of the earlier ones. While it is a series, I've discovered that reading them in order is not essential.
