I really like these books because I love the characters. The portrayal of how schools work is so realistic. I liked this one, because there were so many people that could have done it. There were villians, but not just black and white villians-you could see how they got involved in something they didn't want to do (not that you agree with them).

There are times when school psychologist Skye Denison still feels like a fish out of water in Scumble River, the Midwestern hometown to which she reluctantly returned a few years ago. Now, still broke, another car totaled, and her love life a minefield of busted relationships. Skye nevertheless keeps her cool when Scumble River becomes a hotbed of malice....and murder
Sleeping Beauty is dead. Star of the school play, cheerleader, and beauty pageant queen, Lorelei Ingels was the most popular girl in school. But today, no one envies her. While the principal and the police are busy with the politics of this high-profile case, Skye Denison counsels kids and combs for clues...ever more convinced that high school is truly dangerous place. Finagling her way around crazy school administrators, stupid rules, pushy parents, and teens whose slang needs decoding takes all of Skye's formidable ingenuity. And even ever-optimistic Skye knows that, in this case, finding the killer won't end this tale happliy ever after....

More drama in Scumble River - always amazing how many murders occur in these small towns. The fighting over Skye continues, will she choose Wally or Simon. 3rd in the series.

If you want a light-hearted tongue-in-cheek easy to read book, Denise Swanson is your writer. She is a delight. I've not found a one of her books I haven't enjoyed! She can definitely put a lift in one's spirit even with a dark subject. If you haven't read any of her books, this is your chance!

First book in this series that I read but will keep my eyes open for more. I like the main character, a 30-something woman who returns to her small hometown, after being jilted by her fiancee in the big city. Her love life continues to be a shambles, she cannot seem to keep a car (although people keep finding them for her), and murder follows her around.

When school psychologist Skye Denison investigates the death of a popular teenager who was cast as Sleeping Beauty in the school play, she uncovers some shocking revelations about prominent Scumble River citizens. And even ever-optimistic Skye knows that in this case, finding the killer won't end this tale happily-ever-after.
