If you are put off by the fact that the protagonist is a "psychic detective," trust me, I am the first to poo-poo any kind of New Age hoohah, but the books are well-written and thoroughly enjoyable!

An absolutely perfect mystery. Despite the potentially cheesy psychic psychologist angle, Elizabeth Chase is a highly educated, intelligent, interesting professional. The characters are very strong, the plot is well thought out, the writing is crisp and engaging.

This is the first book of the Elizabeth Chase series and, although I read another of the series prior to reading this one. I really dislike reading books out of sequence! Anyway, Elizabeth is a psychic detective and has been asked by the Escondido Police Department for help. That is rare all by itself but Elizabeth feels that the auto accident where two people died is murder. Elizabeth meets Tom McGowan, detective, and feels an immediate attraction to him and he to her. So there is a bit of romance in this story too.

Elizabeth's first suspect is the victim's ex-boyfriend who was a big bother to her, to the point of having to get a restraining order against him. However, Elizabeth soon discovers he is not the perpetrator. Her investigation and her intuition lead her to bizarre places, difficult people and downright danger. The twists in the story kept me on the edge of my seat and I simply had to finish it. I read it in one day. :) I highly recommend the book for an exciting read.

Excellent book! Elizabeth Chase is interesting and funny. The psychic aspect of the book is compelling and is definitely not "hokey" like so many other paranormal mysteries.

I enjoyed this sweet and low-key mystery involving a pyschic detective.

I will continue to read Martha Lawrence books--very well written and really kept my interest. Couldn't wait to see "who done it".
