Ginger and Basil have received an invitation to an exclusive party at the home of Reginald Peck. They rub elbows with many rich and famous people at the party. At breakfast the next morning, the morning headlines read that Mr. Peck is dead. Everyone knows Mr. Peck had a bad heart. But an autopsy shows he had been poisoned. With a family at odds over who will inherit Peck's fortune, Basil and Ginger investigate the murder.
This was a good addition to the Ginger Gold Mystery series. Ginger and her husband, Chief Inspector Basil Reed, interview each member of the household and dig into each of their alibis. Along with the murder, Ginger and Basil receive a visit from his parents who are back in England. When the parents learn that Ginger and Basil are planning on adopting their ward, Scout, Basil's parents are not thrilled with the news. My rating: 4 Stars.
