I'm not a big John Case fan and the first third or so of this book just reinforced my enthusiasm. I just wanted to shout, "Get on with it, already!" But, having endured that much, I soldiered on to the end. And it ended. Just ... ended. After getting involved the various characters I expected another chapter or two to wrap it all up. Alas, it was not to be.

Top notch mystery/thriller. He does a good job making the clues work, and of revealing the plot slowly enough to keep you guessing but not bogging down. It's a bit too handy in the end and the reason behind the staged clues is never quite explained, but the characters are all true and the premise is excellent.

This is a great book that will keep you on the edge of your seat; as a parent, you will empathize with the narrator as well as find some interesting information about magic and the power of the human mind!

LOVED it! I have been to the Renaissance Festival in MD., so I appreciated the description of the initial setting. Knowing that fear of losing one's kids in a split second made my heart race. The story delves into Voodoo and magic and some aspects of life I can't even pretend to understand. I'm glad to appreciate a different perspective through the safety of a book! It was a great story. I really have enjoyed this author.
