One of the latest in Joan Hess' great series of funny stories about Maggody, Arkansas, and its amusing chief of police, Arly Hanks. In this one, a documentary film is being made about a Civil War skirmish that took place at Cotter's Ridge. A rich cast of quirky characters make for a very entertaining read.

Another adventure in Hess' Arly Hanks mystery series. The little community of Maggody is hosting a Civil War re-enactment---more or less on the spur of the moment. This special event gets all tangled up with a treasure hunt for lost Confederate gold, family disagreements, various area residents periodically disappearing (usually in the vicinity of Raz Buchannon's oft-denied still) and mayhem by persons unknown. Chief of Police, Arly Hanks, has her work cut out for her once more.
