I like this mystery series. The amauter detective is a housewife, Jane, with 3 kids and a superly organized next door neighbor/best friend, Shelley. She's also dating the police officer who's supposed to be solving the mysteries. In this book a biologist is murdered, who is supposed to teach the summer basic gardening class that Jane and Shelley are enrolled in. Then another person is murdered as well. So in between raising their kids and renting gardens (for the garden tour part of their class) they must solve the murders.

Horticulturally challenged friends Jane and Shelly sign up for a botany class. But then the teacher is murdered. Naturally they investigate. Humorous cozy.

Suburban mom Jane Jeffry and her equally green-thumbless best friend Shelley Nowack could kill plastic plants. But their scheme to improve themselves vegetatively dies on the vine when the celebrated botanist slated to teach a class at the local Community Center is mysteriously beaten into a coma -- and her replacement turns out to be Dr. Stewart Eastman, an arrogant, self-promoting boor. Did Dr. Eastman or a fellow classmate assault their original instructor? And who later plants a corpse in Eastman's compost heap? There's certainly an abundant crop of suspects. And it's up to Jane to weed out a killer.

This was a great read. It was funny all the way through. Jane and her neighbor Shelly, as usual, find themselves in the middle of something that they should step out of but instead, jump in with both feet! The ensueing antics will keep you in stitches.
