The history of the Chianti region is interesting, and many of the author's tales of tourists with bizarre demands or skewed perspectives of Italian life are funny, but others come off as improbable caricatures.

Very fun reading...Provides an "Italian" viewpoint to Americans in Italy... The antithesis of all those "Under the Tuscan Sun" books out there!!

Book by a very interesting guy who grew up in the region, and he gives lots of history of the famous Sienna horse race that occurs twice a year and other historical sites. Some of the descriptions of his difficult clients becomes tiresome, because I started to feel like he thinks all Americans are obnoxious. But, was happy when he said good things about a couple from Birmingham and mentioned Alabama as well. I would like to visit the region after reading his book, it's a quick read and very enjoyable if you like travel books about Tuscany and Italy in general.

A delightful book. I was fortunate enough to tour the Tuscany/Chianti region when my husband was stationed in Europe - but sadly we didn't have the money for a guide like Dario! We had to make due with guide books and a rental car.
I loved reading the descriptions of the area - it really took me back to our visit!
A great read for anyone planning a trip to Tuscany, or anyone who just wants a mini mental vacation.
