If you haven't enjoyed a Mrs. Jeffries mystery before this would be a good one to start with. Set in the late 1800s, the whole domestic staff, under the direction of the Housekeeper, Mrs. Jeffries, helps their employer, bumbling Inspector Witherspoon, solve murder mysteries - without him knowing anything about it.

Mrs. Jeffries keeps house for Inspector Witherspoon...and keeps him on his toes. Everyone's awed by his Scotland Yard successes - but they don't know abt his secret weapon (neither does he!). No matter how messy the murder or how dirty the deed, Mrs. Jeffries' polished detection skills (and her staff of helpers) are up to the task.

Mrs. Jeffries and her household staff of the inspecter help behind the scenes to investigate a murder. Much to the inspectors surprise, he is never aware of it. These are based in London. Very enjoyable series.

Cute Victorian mystery.

I did not enjoy this Mrs. Jeffries mystery as much as I've enjoyed the other's I've read (in full disclosure, I'd guess I've read about 10 of them at this point, and I'm not reading them in order). It was still a quick and fun read. I enjoy all the characters. The author eludes to something being wrong with Constable Barnes, but never returns to it, doesn't follow up, nothing is mentioned again. Of course she could follow up in the next book and I haven't gotten to it yet, but it was just odd to drop a hint with one of the major characters and then...... nothing.
Pleasant mystery. Perhaps a far-fetched premise but fun anyway.

Another one to really like. New character involved in helping to solve. Also a very poor copper called out. Good mystery, great character relationships as usual. Always look forward to the next one.
