Let's be honest here, many books aimed towards little one's are a real chore to read. Not so with this one. I may have enjoyed it just as much (if not more so) than my daughter. It is a charming little book about a young girls' search for the perfect present for her mom. She's stumped until she meets a talking rabbit whose ideas are grand and not terribly helpful but together they manage to create a gift that is just right. The illustrations by Maurice Sendak are as charming as the text. My kids have outgrown this so we'll set it free for someone else to enjoy.
If you want to read a great book to your kids, read, "Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present."
