MY REVIEW: If you love the t.v. series Monk for its humor, you will like the book. Almost every page has a "Monk Moment" or some sort of witty thought.

Also, this particular one gives you more of a feel for how Natalie feels. But I did find the constant "Monk-ness" almost too much. It seemed like the author was trying too hard. It seemed Monk was MORE Compulsive than the TV series portrays him (Hard to imagine, I know) and I got irritated at his quirks like Captain Stottlemeyer.

But if you are a die-hard fan, or just looking for a fairly light murder mystery read, this is the book for you.

DESCRIPTION ON BACK:

At a convention for the cult science fiction show "Beyond Earth," Adrian Monk meets fans as obsessive-compulsive as he is. Thought he's not preoccupied with the program, Monk can understand the phenomenon. Who wouldn't want to live in an imaginary world?

But there may be a killer in the "Beyond Earth" community: Someone in a starship uniform has gunned down the show's legendary creator. Could a fan be THAT furious at him for selling out to Hollywood? Or is more going on behind the scenes?

Luckily, Monk's agoraphobic brother, Ambrose, is an expert on the TV series. Together they'll search the earth and beyond for the murderer. That is, IF Ambrose can bring himself to leave the house.

Heard it was great. This was a gift to a Monk fan who said she finished it in one sitting.

Book #5 in the "Monk" series...enjoyable murder mystery. Fast action and hilarious entertainment, as well as the more serious business of who-done-it of murder - (or murders??).

I won't give it away but in the Monk books there's always more than one body piling up! Is it murder or an accident? If murder are they somehow connected or just a coincidence? Ahhhh - you'll just have to read this one to find out.

This one was very enjoyable and had lots of twists and turns. You also get a little more on the background of Monk as well as his brother Ambrose!

Excellent story amd a fun read!

I've given it a 4-1/2 stars, mostly for the fun read.

PS - I've never watched any of the Monk TV shows so I couldn't tell you if this fits the usual stuff seen on TV...in the book the story is told from Natalie's perspective and how she 'sees' things as the story progresses. From her perspective it's hilarious!

I couldn't stop giggling while reading this book, so much so that my family kept giving me strange looks! If you can imagine Monk at a sci-fi convention (think "Trekkies"), you've basically got the gist of this hilarious novel -- and a mystery that kept me guessing until the end, as well.
