If you enjoy the TV series, you will enjoy this book. The author is fairly true to all the characters and gives the same feel as the TV series. Mr. Monk is a rare character and this book finds him having to move in with his assistant and her daughter. What is a germ-o-phobe to do?
In the midst of all this, 2 very different murders occur, there is no way they could be related or are they?
A fast easy read.

You have to have watched the TV show. If you have and if you like it (and it's hard to imagine anyone who wouldn't), then this book will be a lot of fun for you. Written from the point of view of Natalie, Monk's assistant and keeper, the book follows our favorite obsessive-compulsive detective as he brilliantly solves another couple of murders--one of the victims is the firehouse dog.
Lee Goldberg, the author, knows his Monk. He has written several episodes of the show. You'll fall right into the rhythm and flow of a Monk episode and enjoy the ride.

It's not quite as much fun as the TV show, but it's a remarkable rendering of our favorite defective detective. Lee Goldberg, the author, has written several of the TV episodes and knows the characters well. The story is well done and quite convincing. It would make a great episode. If you can't get enough of Monk, this is a great way to continue the fascination.

Fan of the USA TV show "Monk"? This book reads like an episode from the show. This book is from Natalie's perspective. The humor is there, and will just make you out right laugh. Easy read, be sure to pass it on to other Monk fans after you read it! This edition is the paperback first printing January 2006. And you thought she was jsut a sweet litle ole lady next door.....

Good book for a big fan of the show, and written by one of the show's writers, it develops the characters pretty well, though the numerous grammatical mistakes distracted me quite a bit from the story. Overall, a good read for the Monk fan!

The overall story and mystery were good. My one complaint was that the point-of-view was Natalie's, and the way he wrote Natalie didn't seem to marry up to the Natalie that we knew in the TV series. Don't get me wrong, his portrayal of Natalie wasn't completely off, but there were various parts throughout the book that just didn't seem like her.

If you like the TV show, you'll love this book. It's like watching an episode inside your head. If you haven't seen the TV show, what are you waiting for? Monk is the best TV detective since Columbo. Watch the show, then read this book. In that order.

A great book, that reads so much like an episode that I feel like I watched it.
A quick and funny read. Goldberg does a great job at capturing Monk's character; it was like watching the TV program.
Surprisingly not as good as Monk the TV series, but definately comical.
The novel was fairly predictable and the author has an immature writing style.

This book was a lot of fun to read. I like the lighthearted point of view of the character. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed the tv show or even anyone that hasn't. I feel as if I know these people and often felt as if i was right there when things were happening.
First in the all-new series of original mysteries starring Adrian Monk, the brilliant investigator who always knows something's out of place. If you enjoy the TV series, you'll also enjoy this book.

This was a very enjoyable quick read. I love the television show and just had to separate myself a bit from it to get into the book character. It is fast-paced, funny, and engaging.
Very entertaining read! If you love Monk you will love this book!
I would have given this a higher rating if two things hadn't happened. One, the TV show aired "mr. Monk Can't see a THING" when I was half way through giving away the end! HOW LAME! And, two, the book had not been written from Natalie's perspective - and I am not one of her fans. But, I thought the sub plots were interesting and I MAY, I say MAY read the next one, haven't decided yet.
This was the best book that I have read in a long time. There were several times when I was laughing out loud. This was also my first meeting with Mr. Monk.
My own OCD wouldn't allow me to love this book...I found too many inconsistencies with the series. Still, I read the whole thing and didn't hate it.
I have read all four of the monk books and enjoyed all of them they are so much like watching the tv show if you like the show you will love the books
If you like the show, you'll like the book, it's written by a guy who has written several episodes and from Natalie's point of view.
Good plot. I think it is a slight variation of two of the TV episodes. Definitely a must read for Monk fans.
For a media tie-in novel, this is actually pretty good. The characters sound and act pretty close to the Series.
this is a hardcover book. I dont know why it comes up as paperback. This book is a very easy read of the adventures of MR.MONK. He a detective who solves mysteries and is never wrong.

This book is actually the hard cover edition
This is not a paperback book, it is a hardback copy. There was no choice for hardback when I entered this. The author, Lee Goldberg, has written episodes of the Monk television program. As you would expect, this book is much like watching an episode and the storyline keeps your attention.
