Fern Michaels is a good, if not somewhat predictable, writer. The story does have some interesting twists and I enjoyed going along for the ride. The characters were likeable and you found yourself rooting for them throughout the story. There is a budding romance, suspense, evil, some violence, corruption, money, a lovable kid, and a lovable dog. Throw all that together and you have a pretty good story. This is not a deep inspiring story but a good cozy read. Sorry can't tell you how it all works out cause that would ruin it for you, but it's a good read - trust me.

I LOVE Fern Michaels and have read all her books but this one was horrible for me. I tried and tried to get into the book but just wasn't able to. The plot was so predictable it was absurd and in no way plausible. After reading about 4 chapters I got online and read some other reviews of people who said they liked it and I tried to read a couple more chapters and I just couldn't. Everytime I read any of it, I was thinking how stupid this book was. I hope other people like it but I couldn't get past the 5th chapter.

I agree with everything Christine R. (Christinerodie) said in her review. That was exactly how I felt.
I read not quite half of the book before returning it to the library. I'm glad I didn't waste a credit on it. The storyline was just ridiculous and even though it moved along at a quick pace, I felt like it was too quick and should've been fleshed out a bit more. Some parts and relationships between characters, made you just go, "Really? Really? That is just too unbelievable."
I've enjoyed Fern Michael's books in the past, but wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I've always loved Fern's writing. While this was an ok book, I wouldn't dare try to ever read it a second time because I barely got through it the first time. Just didn't capture my interest the way her's always has. I hope others find it to be a better book than I. It will not stop me from reading any future releases though, that's for sure.
Actually, if it weren't for all the cursing and what-not, this book would actually seem to me like one of those fantasy books for teens. As you're reading you're thinking the whole time, "how in the world could any of this be so in a real life setting"...

Awful, awful, awful! Time to retire Michaels. I could only make it half-way and that was forcing myself. I started rolling my eyes 10 pages in and if I heard about "the hat" one more time I think I would have thrown the book. When one of the characters started 'talking' to a ghost, I gave up. Get it together Michaels or give it up!
