This story is an amazing adventure, beautifully told about a young man, ship-wrecked on an island off the coast of Yemen and then captured by pirates. He had only enough time to bury his journals recording the voyage and his island experiences before being captured. His return to Yeman many years later in hopes of retrieving his journals and his gradual acceptance of the truth that the journey is the point, not whether one's quest succeeds or not, leads the reader into exotic and fascinating experiences with unforgettable characters. A great read. A great gift - my husband loved it and imagined himself along on the adventure every step of the way.

I have read all of Eric Hansen's books I find them very informative and interesting. He writes about the things that interest him and they are very unusual and sometimes funny. It reads like an adventure novel but it is his real experiences, and I am glad to read about them rather than experiencing them myself. Fern
