Good legal thriller. A bit longish in some areas, but it still kept my attention. I loved that it was set in Lake Tahoe, since I grew up in El Dorado County and know all about that setting (it was almost weird reading about Apple Hill!), but it might be distracting to someone not familiar with the area. I'm happy to have found a new series to enjoy!

A female attorney intrigue with lots of suspense.

Nina Reilly has (as usual) gotten herself mixed up with a client that has little chance of winning her freedom from a murder charge. This client has enemies other than the prosecution and they are trying to kill her and Nina always seems to be in the line of fire. Whether she thinks Misty is guilty of murdering her husband or not has no bearing on Nina's defense and the more roadblocks thrown at her, the more she digs her heels in, refusing to give up. Sometimes Nina's tactics puzzle me, but it makes the book a little more interesting.

A novel about Nina Reilly. She is an attorney that has to start her life over again after a divorce. She moves from San Franciscon to Lake Tahoe and opens her own law office. She meets Michelle "Misty Patterson and takes her own as client, first in a divorce case that turns into defending her for her husband's murder. This novel keeps you in suspense to the very end. Wonderfully written. I couldn't put it down.

Really enjoyed this book. It's the first one I've read by O'Shaughnessy. Will definitely read more by this author.
First in the series. Great series of books revolving around the life of attorney and single mom Nina Reilly. Suspenseful and complex.

First book in a new series about a female lawyer, Nina Reilly, practicing solo in Tahoe. I love this character for her faults, courage, humanity, strength and her ability to reason. She makes mistakes but accepts the blame.
Four stars and can't wait for the next story.

My first O'Shaughnessy book. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. And the ending was very surprising.

First book in the Nina Reilly series! Barely a week ago, Nina Reilly had been a happily married San Francisco lawyer. Suddenly, she's a single parent, opening a shoestring practice in Lake Tahoe. Now Nina finds herself embroiled in a case that's going to change everything she believes about the law. It's going to rock everything Misty Patterson believes about herself. And it's going to give both women a look at the damning piece of evidence that will challenge their faith in each other. Or give them their one and only chance to win.

It was a little slow in the beginning for me while it set up the characters, but it quickly took off and I found myself having a hard time putting it down. Kept me guessing to the very end and it still blew me away when I got the answer to the mystery. I would highly recommend this to anyone and am looking forward to others by O'Shaughnessy.

Another great Nina Reilly courtroom drama.
This is a good legal thriller/mystery. A real page-turner, it has unexpected twists and turns, a really exciting book.
This is the first in the series of Nina Reilly books -- written by two sisters, one a lawyer the other a writer/editor. The legal aspects of the book are very true to life and the pacing/plotting is excellent. The best thing I can say about this book is that after posting my copy here, I ordered the next in the series! I look forward to reading all of the Nina Reilly books, she's a complex and interesting character.

Misty Patterson only remembered the fight, the polar bear statue she used as a bludgeon, a trail of blood, & the comatose sleep that followed. When she awoke, her husband & the statue were missing. Only the blood was left. She had come to attorney Nina Reilly's office seeking a divorce. But when Anthony Patterson was found on the bottom of the frigid lake, Misty needed a miracle.

An excellent past-paced legal thriller. Courtroom buffs will love this book!
Nine Reilly moves to Tahoe after a separation from her husband. She decides to open a law office and her first case is a murder trial. Everyone says she is handling the case badly and getting her client convicted. Good story.
This is the first of the Nina Reilly books, set in Lake Tahoe, written by the Perri O'Shaughnessy sister team. Reilly, who locates in Tahoe with her young son after the breakup of her marriage, opens a struggling law practice and soon has her first important client, an abused young woman who may or may not have murdered her husband - but just can't quite remember.
