Police Chief Josie Quinn is called when two young boys dig up human remains. The body of the woman they found looks to have been there for over thirty years. Her rare dental condition leads to a quick identification. Her name is Belinda Rose and she was approximately eighteen years old when she died. Josie is shocked when she hears the name. Her mother's name is Belinda Rose and she is still alive, although Josie has no contact with her. Growing up, Josie was physically and mentally abused by her mother. She wonders if her mother stole this girl's identity and if she had anything to do with her death.

This is the third book in the Josie Quinn series. I recommend reading this series in order. Lately, I've been falling asleep every time I open a book and try to read. Not so with this book. I couldn't put it down and read late into the night. The book jumps between the investigation in the present, and Josie's life growing up with her cruel drug-addicted mother. These scenes were sometimes hard to read as we learn about Josie's past.

This book had a lot of surprise revelations, along with a shocking twist that I didn't see coming. There was also a touch of romance between Josie and Lt. Noah Fraley, which I was happy to see. I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this series. My rating: 5 Stars.

this is a very good series but this one is very slow and draggy

It flip flops back and forth from Josie young years then back to the present time, very annoying and just not needed

Would've been better if written has just a mystery story without all the 'remembering'
