While it was ok, it was nowhere near challenging Jean Auel's books for quality, ambiance, scope & breadth of the experience. The characters are shallow compared to Ayla and others in Auel's books. Nope, I'm done with this series.

fiction about a strong female character on a journey through a frozen world in our times past.

This was a very interesting book. I only gave it 2 stars though because of the horrible events that happened to the main character. I know there has to be a climax, but overall I enjoy books that are happier and that I can put down and know that in the end everything will be all right. I didn't have that feeling while reading this, I found it hard to put down, because I was so worried about what was happening. If you want a suspensful book where you can't necessarily see what will happen next, this might be the book for you.
