1980s, Belfast. Detective Sean Duffy is recruited by MI5 to hunt down Dermot McCann, an IRA master bomber who has escaped from Maze Prison. Sean discovers a woman who may hold the key to Dermot's whereabouts. Her daughter died in mysterious circumstances in a pub locked from the inside. The clock is ticking down to the Conservative Party Conference in Brighton in 1984, where Mrs. Thatcher is due to give a keynote speech. Will Duffy get there in time before the bomb goes off?
3rd book in the Sean Duffy series and the best so far. The locked pub mystery is a cold case and I liked reading how Duffy reviews the previous investigations and finally comes to the conclusion of how the murderer was able to kill the barmaid. Sean Duffy is a great character and I'm anxious to see what happens in the next book. I found the plot well-paced and packed with history of the IRA bombings. If you haven't read this series yet, I suggest you read them in order. I recommend them to those who like mystery thrillers
