I really enjoyed this book. The characters in the story are so interesting and well-developed. We had a lot to talk about in book club with this story. The author really delves in to personal sins and character motivations.

What I enjoyed most about this story was the internal struggle each character when through. I loved reading about the relationships within this family from each different perspective, and having more and more of the details revealed as each character shared their own perspective of each situation. Their struggle to gain independance while being pulled back into the family fold, and how they dealt with their own faith, their personal judgements and their future potential was all so interesting, and relevant to today in so many ways. Very very good story.

The family relationships were very interesting as is the looking back into the past perspective. There were some good laughs and heartwarming moments. On the other hand, I found it sad and unrealistic that the author shows every character's experience of sexuality as an overwhelming, loosing battle.
