In one way I dislike Gary Paulsen's books. Why? Because they are too damn short. But I still read and enjoy them, despite being 77 years old. Most of his books seem to have a boy as the main character, if not the only character. This one was different, as the main character is a young girl. I think she is thirteen.

If you have a budding, young artist in your family, that person should read this book, as this book is about people, art, life and what is important.

Another thing I liked about the book is the girl's dog. Frankly, there are too many cats in books or in their titles for me. But then I am definitely not a cat person.
